ask questions, targeted ones, and do it well
do a good job of asking. clear, concise, and actually something they can help with
ask for stuff all the time! you don’t have a limited budget. but make it easy for people to help — they want to but they’re busy
maximize the number of networks you have access to, not the number of people. E.g. one pro BBall player and one tech VC are better than two tech VCs

he doesn’t take investment from passive people. only people who agree to help when they can. say this up front so everyone knows what they’re getting into
always have a list of things you need on hand. People ask “how can I help?” all the time — send that list! (pared down to the relevant ones for them)
to keep this list up to date he asks his team monthly, “what are two things you could use help with”
also put this list in investor updates etc ofc
